Apostle House
Many churches in Statesville and surrounding areas have partnered with Habitat through its "Apostle House" program.
Sponsoring churches have the opportunity to partially or fully fund the cost of building a local Habitat home. The sponsor groups also offer their members the chance to build the home along side the Habitat homeowner family. The Apostle House program is exciting, challenging and rewarding, and most importantly, it makes a real and lasting positive impact on the community.
As a Christian ministry, it is appropriate that the churches are a primary partner with Habitat in this important work of building affordable houses with people in need. Churches
of all sizes and denominations have experienced profound blessings by putting their faith into action and building houses in partnership with their brothers and sisters in need. Former President Jimmy Carter has said that if every church and every synagogue built or repaired at least one home a year, the United States could totally transform the problems of housing and homelessness.
Many volunteers are needed to build one Habitat home – it takes 2,500 volunteer hours to build one Habitat home. Below is a list of some of the churches that have participated in the Apostle House program:
First Baptist Church
First Presbyterian Church
Calvary Presbyterian Church
Concord Presbyterian Church
First ARP Church
Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church
Friendship United Methodist Church
Trinity Episcopal Church
St John's Lutheran Church
Monticello United Methodist Church
Grace Baptist Church
Iredell County Chapter of Thrivent FInancial

A full Adopt-A-Home sponsorship is currently $60,000. Sponsors may also choose to contribute 10% over that amount to build 2 houses in Guatemala simultaneously. Habitat for Humanity tithes 10% of its unrestricted income to Guatemala.
